Quality Engineer

The Quality Engineer supports the company’s commitment to producing safe, compliant, and high-quality products by applying engineering principles to problem-solving, process improvement, and risk reduction. This role focuses on data-driven analysis, root cause investigations, process validations, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). The Quality Engineer partners with Production, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain to improve processes, reduce waste, and ensure products meet specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead root cause investigations for product or process nonconformances using structured problem-solving tools (5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA).
  • Develop, implement, and verify the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Document and communicate findings and solutions in a clear and timely manner.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, drive process improvements, and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Support Production teams with process troubleshooting and improvement projects.
  • Assist with establishing and maintaining process control parameters, including SPC monitoring and control charts.
  • Support Engineering with equipment qualifications, new product qualifications, and change control evaluations.
  • Develop and execute validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for equipment, processes, and products.
  • Participate in risk assessments (PFMEA) and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Support supplier qualification and incoming inspection planning by defining critical-to-quality (CTQ) requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with SQF, GMP, and internal SOPs.
  • Assist with internal audits, customer audits, and third-party certification audits.
  • Support document creation and revision for SOPs, work instructions, and process maps.
  • Prepare quality performance reports and present data for management review.
  • Use statistical tools to evaluate process capability (Cp, Cpk) and recommend improvements.
  • Assist with measurement system analysis (MSA) and calibration verification as required.
  • Develop training materials and support employee training on new quality tools and processes.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment with a focus on quality systems, process improvement, or product validation.
  • Hands-on quality experience, including root cause analysis, CAPA, and process validation.
  • Proficiency in the use of quality tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, FMEA, SPC, and process capability studies (Cp, Cpk).
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards, HACCP principles, GMP, and other applicable quality system requirements.
  • Experience with measurement tools, calibration verification, and basic understanding of measurement system analysis (MSA).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate data into actionable improvements.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English with ability to clearly document investigations, write reports, and present findings.
  • High attention to detail, quality mindset, and commitment to compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with diverse departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn specialized quality software.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods and lift 25–50 pounds as required for production floor support.
  • Must have excellent color perception and ability to visually inspect product and printed materials.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Experience with validation protocol development and execution (IQ/OQ/PQ).
  • Experience supporting supplier quality management and incoming inspection planning.
  • Prior experience in a pressroom or with flexographic printing processes and color management.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging industry or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other structured continuous improvement methodologies (Green Belt a plus).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Pay: Up to $75,000.00 per year

  • 401K Plan – Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
  • Company Paid Short-Term Disability– The Short-Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long-Term Disability– The Long-Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance– The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO – The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 8 Company Paid Holidays– Eligible after 60 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave– Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).
  • Tuition Reimbursement– Following 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for reimbursement for courses, certifications, and training programs that support their Eagle careers.

Part-time team members are provided with the following benefits:

  • Vacation/PTO – Eligible to earn 1 hour of vacation/PTO for every 40 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours of vacation/PTO.
