This Converting Operations Specialist and Trainer will be leading setups, training, and performing operator maintenance in the Converting Department. This is a hands-on position. The Converting Operations Specialist and Trainer is expected to be fully proficient in the operation of all machines in the Converting Department and willing and able to work alongside members of the team to support learning objects and production needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate all new hire training as well as continuing training for current Converting/Slitting Operators at all levels.
- Train Converting/Slitting Department personnel, ensuring best practices are consistently understood and implemented. As needed, provide hands-on support to maintain efficient, quality production.
- In partnership with site leadership, assist with development of training content.
- In partnership with site leadership, create, implement and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Conduct onboarding and continuous training sessions to instruct employees on company processes and machinery.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency by leading setup operations, troubleshooting equipment issues, and operating machinery as needed to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiencies.
- Communicate with Maintenance Department to coordinate and execute scheduled and Preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment and encourage safety related communication.
- Assure that the team maintains quality standards through knowledge of product specifications and training of personnel.
- Ensure that product quality, production, and overall productivity meet or exceed established standards.
- Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement.
- Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school degree or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum five years’ experience as a machine operator, preferably in the flexible packaging industry.
- Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude and assist with setups as needed.
- Effective people skills and ability to motivate others to enhance team performance.
- Proven ability to lead by example with professionalism, excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, quality consciousness, customer orientation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to understand and present complex technical information in a compelling manner to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Basic PC skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email software with proven ability to learn complex new software programs.
- Strong initiative and organizational skills with ability to troubleshoot and make informed decisions.
- Adaptability to changing assignments and priorities while maximizing productivity in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent work ethic with willingness to learn, teach, and grow.
- Proficient communicator within a diverse group or one-on-one scenarios.
- Ability to stand, bend, or twist for extended periods.

Preferred Qualification:
- Experience in the flexible packaging industry.
- Experience developing and delivering formal training programs.
- Operations leadership experience.
- Completion of advanced or continuing educational coursework relevant to manufacturing.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Pay: $25.00 – $40.00 per hour
