Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist contributes to the success of Eagle Flexible Packaging (“Eagle”) by supporting the full employee lifecycle, including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR operations. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure a positive employee experience, compliance with employment laws, and effective people practices across the organization. As Eagle is growing, this role will have a strong emphasis on managing recruitment efforts to attract top talent.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Talent acquisition and onboarding responsibilities including:
    • Manage full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles.
    • Source candidates, screen applicants, and coordinate interviews.
    • Partner with hiring managers on selection decisions and compensation recommendations.
    • Lead new hire onboarding and orientation.
    • Maintain recruiting systems and candidate pipelines.
    • Lead new hire orientation and onboarding sessions, including management of new hire paperwork.
  • Employee engagement responsibilities including:
    • Serve as first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.
    • Support and document employee relations matters, including managing investigations as needed.
    • Conduct exit interviews and identify trends.
    • Plan and execute employee engagement initiatives and events.
    • Partner with managers to support performance management processes, including drafting corrective action as needed.
    • Schedule check-ins (reviews) and track completion, ensuring that employees are receiving prompt and regular feedback as well as opportunities to partner with leadership in the achievement of their professional goals.
  • HR operations and compliance responsibilities including:
    • Maintain accurate employee records in ADP Workforce Now.
    • Process employee changes (e.g., hires, terminations, status updates, etc.).
    • Support timekeeping review and payroll coordination.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.
    • Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation.
  • Benefits and leave administration responsibilities including:
    • Administer benefits programs and serve as employee point of contact.
    • Lead annual open enrollment.
    • Manage leaves of absence and track required documentation.
    • Coordinate with vendors and ensure timely communication.
  • Safety and training support responsibilities including:
    • Support safety program administration and compliance tracking.
    • Coordinate required trainings and maintain records.
    • Assist with PPE and safety supply oversight.
  • Internal communication and culture responsibilities including:
    • Support internal communications to ensure workforce awareness.
    • Assist in promoting company programs (e.g., health and wellness, EAP, etc.).
    • Help reinforce a positive workplace culture.
  • Community and workforce development responsibilities including:
    • Represent Eagle at job fairs and community events.
    • Build relationships with local schools and workforce development partners.
    • Support initiatives that enhance employer brand in the community.
    • Identify and coordinate the execution of Eagle Cares community support activities.
  • Participate in HR projects and process improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and employee experience.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum two years relevant experience.
  • Experience supporting multiple HR functions, including talent acquisition and employee relations.
  • Basic PC skills including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email software with proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Understanding of human resources policies and procedures as well as applicable laws and regulations.
  • Strong sense of personal integrity with ability to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Sense of urgency to complete responsibilities with thoroughness, responsiveness, professionalism, and whenever possible, proactively.
  • Effective time management skills with ability to work independently and maximize productivity.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse group of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Experience with human resources information system (HRIS) software.
  • Experience with applicant tracking system (ATS) software.

Pay: $50,000 to $75,000 per year

The annual amount provided to each participant is based on one’s enrollment tier per the following schedule: $1,500.00 for Employee Only coverage, $3,000.00 for Employee + Spouse or Employee + Child(ren), and $4,500.00 for Family coverage.
  • Dental Insurance– On the first of month following 60 days of employment, employees can enroll in dental insurance provided by BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
  • Vision Insurance– On the first of month following 60 days of employment, employees can enroll in this voluntary benefit through BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois.
  • 401K Plan – Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
  • Company Paid Short-Term Disability– The Short-Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Company Paid Long-Term Disability– The Long-Term Disability premium is 100% paid by Eagle.
  • Life Insurance– The Basic Life premium is 100% paid by Eagle and is a flat $20,000 benefit for all FT, benefit eligible employees. Employees have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance for self, spouse, and dependent children.
  • Vacation/PTO – The amount of vacation/paid time off (PTO) employees receive each year starts at 80 hours (2 weeks) each year, which accrues at a rate of 1.538 hours per week, and increases with the length of employment.
  • 8 Company Paid Holidays– Eligible after 60 days of employment.
  • Sick Leave– Eligible for paid sick days at the rate of 3 days (24 hours) per year after 6 months of service (prorated for per the calendar year).
  • Tuition Reimbursement– Following 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for reimbursement for courses, certifications, and training programs that support their Eagle careers.

Part-time team members are provided with the following benefits:

  • Vacation/PTO – Eligible to earn 1 hour of vacation/PTO for every 40 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours of vacation/PTO.
  • 401K Plan– Plan entry date is the first of the month following 6 months of service. Eagle provides its employees with a 100% match up to 1% and 50% match up to 6%.
