The Roll-to-Roll Process Trainer is responsible for developing, managing, delivering, and validating process training programs for the Printing, Laminating, and Slitting departments. Responsibilities of this role include leading on-the-job training (OJT) of staff as a subject-matter expert (SME), coordinating training schedules, training compliance monitoring, training system improvements and onboarding new members of the production team. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining training metrics to drive performance improvements through collecting and providing training for key performance indicators (KPIs). This is a working Trainer position. The Trainer is expected to be fully proficient in the operation of all equipment in the Printing, Laminating, and Slitting departments and willing and able to work alongside members of the team to support learning objects and production needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective hands-on, on-the-job (OJT) training to employees on key processes, machinery, and safety protocols across the Printing, Laminating, and Slitting departments, providing formal and informal group and individual training and coaching.
- Demonstrate technical proficiency in department machinery by not only operating and setting up equipment but also by mentoring and guiding team members on troubleshooting and machine adjustments to ensure operational efficiency.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate training programs focused on operational excellence, incorporating best practices, troubleshooting techniques, and safety measures to support departmental growth, reduce downtime, reduce scrap, and increase production of quality material.
- Lead the creation, validation, and continuous improvement of operator training programs, ensuring they meet company standards, align with KPIs, and foster a culture of learning and development.
- Collaborate across departments to identify and capture opportunities for process improvements, working toward delivering exceptional customer and company value through training and performance optimization.
- Monitor and assess employee performance, ensuring that all employees follow their individual training plans, track progress against KPIs, and provide corrective coaching when necessary.
- Promote a safe and compliant work environment by leading safety initiatives, providing regular safety training, and encouraging best practices in risk management. Ensure adherence to all safety, food safety, good manufacturing practices (GMPs), and sanitation policies.
- Create and update comprehensive training materials such as training manuals, visual aids, and online resources to ensure content is accessible, up-to-date, and effective for diverse learning styles.
- Track training effectiveness by maintaining detailed attendance and performance records for all training programs and sessions, ensuring compliance with training schedules and business objectives.
- Assist with onboarding new employees, ensuring that all new hires are properly trained on relevant processes, equipment, safety standards, and company culture from day one.
- Develop and maintain metrics and KPIs for training programs to evaluate success and drive continuous improvement. Utilize data analysis to adjust programs based on operational performance trends and evolving business needs
- Lead cross-functional initiatives by providing training on new products, processes, or procedures, ensuring that all training is aligned with the company’s mission, vision, core values, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in troubleshooting and problem resolution efforts, collaborating with team members to ensure effective testing, quality control, and product development, minimizing operational disruptions.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly gathering feedback from employees and leadership, identifying gaps in training, and proactively revising or creating new training programs as needed.
- Ensure that the quality standards for products, production processes, and overall productivity are consistently met or exceeded through ongoing employee training, process improvements, and leadership collaboration.
- Research industry trends and emerging technologies to anticipate future training needs and ensure that training programs remain relevant and effective in preparing employees for future challenges.
- Ensure alignment of training programs with business goals, incorporating KPIs, quality metrics, and production standards into the training curricula to support company-wide success.
- Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.

Requirements:
- High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a machine operator, preferably as a printing press operator in the flexible packaging industry.
- Demonstrated strong mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to understand and present complex technical information in a compelling manner to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Great inter-personal skills and professional courage with ability to motivate others to perform at high levels.
- Proven ability to lead by example with professionalism, excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, critical thinking, quality consciousness, customer orientation, and organizational skills.
- Basic PC skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email software with proven ability to use technology resources to support training efforts as well as learn complex new software programs.
- Strong sense of initiative and effective time management skills with ability to work proactively and independently in a variety of settings.
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities while maximizing productivity in a fast-paced production environment.
- Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with a diverse individuals in group and one-on-one scenarios.
- Physical requirements: ability to stand for multiple hours, lift to 75 pounds, stoop, kneel, climb, and hold and manipulate objects with hands.
- Must have excellent color vision and be able to detect color variations.

Preferred Qualification:
- Completion of advanced or continuing education coursework relevant to the fields of adult learning and/or manufacturing.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Experience developing and delivering formal training programs.
- Experience with learning management system (LMS) software.
- Knowledge of web meeting and e-learning tools/methodologies, including ability to develop and deliver remote training.
- Operations leadership experience.
Pay: $26.00 – $40.00 per hour
