Downgauged Material

Reducing the amount of material used to package your product (known as downgauging) is a simple step toward lowering the negative impact it can have on the environment. Lightweight preformed pouch products and downgauged roll stock materials help lower emissions during transportation and take up less space in landfills after use. For years, Eagle has been helping customers downgauge their packaging materials, offering lighter, more sustainable solutions without compromising performance.

Recyclable Packaging

Our recycle-ready packaging options are compatible with common recycle streams. A package made of either LLDPE or HDPE may be recycled at select retail locations that participate in store-dropoff collection. While multi-layer flexible packaging structures have historically been difficult to recycle, advancements in recycling infrastructure are supporting a streamlined circular economy. It is becoming increasingly common for retailers have receptacles for plastic shopping bags, overwraps, and other clean, non-contaminated plastics.

Compostable Packaging

The compostable packaging materials we use are ASTM D6400 certified, with a selection being certified to EN13432 as well. These films are designed to decompose when exposed to specific conditions, leaving behind nutrients that regenerate the soil and help the growth of vegetation. New biopolymers are ever evolving and associated advancements in sustainable packaging materials are being developed each day. We’re continually researching and working with our trusted suppliers to offer customers various options to create a functional package that meets their sustainable packaging needs.

In discussing compostable packaging, it is important to note the difference between compostable and biodegradable. Just because a material is considered biodegradable, does not mean that it is compostable. Learn more about the terminology →

Compostable Packaging

Renewable Packaging

At Eagle, we offer the technical assistance needed to develop a renewable package. This term means that the raw materials (in whole or part) used to create the packaging, are derived from a natural resource and/or, a resource that can be renewed, such as wood pulp, etc. A large majority of our compostable packaging also falls into this category.
