Eagle Flexible Packaging: The Year in Review

2020 was undoubtedly a challenging year for us all. Extreme demands placed on segments of the supply chain because of COVID-19 were unprecedented. With Eagle’s customer base primarily residing in the Food, Personal Care, and Healthcare industries, Eagle faced and met the variety of COVID-19 related challenges with the exceptional dedication of our employees and trusted suppliers. We are very proud to report that we were able to keep our employees safe while effectively meeting the needs of our customers during this difficult time. As a result of the increased activity levels, Eagle made the following investments in 2020:

  • Added new production facility • Increased regular full-time staff by 12%
  • Added state-of-the-art Haas CNC machining capabilities for in-house tooling manufacturing – leading to faster turnarounds and increased quality control
  • Added fitment inserting capabilities for liquid applications
  • Added state-of-the-art laser anilox cleaning system for improved printing quality
  • Added state-of-the-art printing inspection systems
  • Added new pouching line

“Another exciting development in 2020 was the increase in orders for Sustainable Packaging. Eagle saw increases of almost 76% year-over-year when compared to the previous year. Eagle is well positioned as the market leader in recyclable, compostable, from renewable, and films containing post-consumer recycled (PCR) content.” according to Ed Walenga, Eagle’s CEO.

We expect that one of the lasting effects COVID-19 will have on our industry will be the way brand owners and producers evaluate their packaging supply chain. Perhaps more importantly, we expect lasting changes in how brand owners and producers adapt to the situations they and their customers may face. With the increase of e-commerce, single use packaging, and the need for shorter lead times, Eagle is continuing to make critical investments in our ability to service our customers. Below is a listing of planned investments for the coming year:

  • 59” W&H 10 color press (Q2 2021)
  • Additional Nordmeccanica lamination line (Q2 2021)
  • Additional slitting line (Q2 2021) • Additional pouching line (Q3 2021)
