Cleaning Supervisor (Batavia, IL)

Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking a Cleaning Supervisor to supervise all Cleaning Staff, including staff responsible for cleaning Press Department equipment and providing general building cleaning services, and Packer/Catchers in a flexible packaging printing and converting environment: plans and assigns work, develops and implements training, manages attendance and performance, implements procedures, and recommends improvements. This is a first shift position that will have responsibilities for supervising staff who work all shifts in a 24/5 production environment. Therefore, an ability to work a flexible schedule will be required at times to effectively train and lead all direct reports.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assign daily work assignments to direct reports and ensure that staff completes their responsibilities as well as understands and flexes to any last-minute changes in business priorities. As needed, support team by working along side them so that critical responsibilities are completed in a timely manner and production needs are fully supported.
  • Manage all time and attendance record keeping for direct reports, ensuring that all time worked is accurately reported in a timely manner, time off requests are responded to, and any attendance issues are promptly addressed.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual check-ins (i.e., performance evaluations), providing constructive feedback and working with direct reports to develop goals that support of their professional aspirations. As needed, initiate and follow through with performance improvement plans in order to address performance deficiencies.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for Cleaning Staff and Packer/Catchers, interviewing candidates and providing hiring decision feedback.
  • Lead and coordinate all new hire training as well as continuing education for existing personnel.
  • Determine current baseline departmental efficiencies and implement steps to monitor and improve performance.
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to the areas led.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, maintaining a collaborative and open environment for discussion.
  • Ensure that direct reports follow good manufacturing practices (GMPs) at all times.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other production leaders to improve quality, control costs, and maximize productivity.
  • Implement an effective safety training program and ensure that safe workplace standards are always maintained.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school degree or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum three years relevant experience; leadership, manufacturing, cleaning, and/or packing experience can be considered.
  • Strong leadership skills, including proven ability to coach and motivate team members and address performance concerns.
  • Basic PC skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and email software with proven ability to learn new software programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize and troubleshoot in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Sense of urgency to complete responsibilities with thoroughness, responsiveness, professionalism, and whenever possible, proactively.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to effectively and professionally communicate with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent attention to detail, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule (hours outside of traditional first shift hours) as needed.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to stoop and kneel frequently and climb a ladder and stairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Business, or related field.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging industry.
