​​Manufacturing Operations Manager (Full-Time or Part-Time)​

Location: Management - Batavia, IL


Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking an Operations Manager who will manage all operations and employees in a flexible packaging printing and converting environment: plan and assign work; implement policies and procedures; and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. This is a weekday 1st shift position with the opportunity to work full-time or part-time. 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Schedule all facility personnel and equipment to maximize operational effectiveness and achieve customer satisfaction.  
  • Manage, coach, and develop all facility personnel, maintaining a positive and healthy facility culture that is aligned with Eagle’s Guiding Values and committed to its Mission and Vision. 
  • Create baseline performance criteria and conduct evaluations and performance reviews, including corrective actions as needed.  
  • Lead and coordinate all new hire training, as well as continuing training for existing personnel.  
  • Implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) relevant to the departments managed.  
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and implement steps to monitor and improve through-put, waste, and downtime.  
  • Take a leadership role when it comes to quality and assist Quality personnel, making quality related decisions and being responsible for all quality issues. 
  • Participate in the problem analysis determination and corrective action implementation of internal and external customer complaints.  
  • Conduct regular meetings within the departments, maintaining a collaborative and open environment for discussion. 
  • Partner with Human Resources partners to strategically identify hiring needs, evaluate candidates, and prepare job offers. 
  • Partner with Information Technology partners to ensure that enterprise resource planning (ERP) software is being effectively leveraged to record, manage, and analyze production, suggesting and working on reporting improvements. 
  • Partner with Maintenance regarding the execution of Eagle’s preventive maintenance program and notify maintenance in the event of any equipment problems or necessary repairs. 
  • Ensure that good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are followed throughout the facility.  
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and other production leaders to control all areas of production costs to meet manufacturing cost / budget targets and continually challenge and reduce costs by all means of elimination of waste, reduced overtime, etc. 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital investments and improvement projects. 
  • Host customer visits and work directly with customers as needed. 
  • Implement effective safety training and ensure that safe workplace standards are maintained at all times.  
  • Partner with key personnel regarding any changes in business procedures and special projects. 
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management. 
  • Other related duties as assigned. 

 Requirements: 

  • High school degree, equivalent (GED), or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience, including leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong leadership skills, including proven ability to coach and motivate team members and address performance concerns. 
  • Strong organizational skills with ability troubleshoot and make informed and quick decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.  
  • Capacity to set priorities, goals, and timelines to achieve maximum productivity by demonstrating a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment. 
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software with proven ability to learn complex new software programs. 
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English with excellent communication skills. 
  • Valid driver’s license is required at time of hire. 
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn. 
  • Must be able to continuously stand for long periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more. 
  • Must be able to stoop and kneel frequently. 
  • Must have excellent color vision and be able to detect color variations.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations, Business, or related field 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with proven ability to learn new software programs. 
  • Experience in the flexible packaging and/or printing industries. 
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, ideally EFI Radius. 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude. 
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
