Press Operator A - Second Shift (Batavia, IL)

We are currently seeking second shift Press Operators to produce high-quality printed materials on our flexo presses. Second shift hours are Monday-Friday 4:00 pm – 4:00 am, which includes overtime opportunities.

Specific Duties:

  • Obtain job information from prepress department, assist in anilox selection and color sequence.
  • Load print cylinders into press, set print decks and adjust registration.
  • Set all register eyes, verify bar code, and print repeats.
  • Work with QA team to complete job approval checklist.
  • Set trim blades and check dimensions before 1st pull.
  • Understand in-line lamination process, as well as in-line slitting.
  • The ability and experience to choose the correct web path for each print run.
  • During a print run, the A Press Operator must monitor every aspect of the run, including web width and edge position, colors, registration, repeat, print quality, and screen quality.
  • Bag and tag finished rolls, if required.
  • Retain samples for QC Department.
  • Document production issues, including material problems, down-time, and plate-related problems.
  • Clean up project, including helping to complete necessary paperwork and verifying accuracy.

Initial Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic computer skills required, Microsoft Excel and Word familiarity desired.
  • High mechanical aptitude desired.
  • Flexographic printing experience desired.
  • Flexible packaging experience desired.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a defect detection system.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, and climb a ladder and stairs.
