Quality Assurance Technician / Inspector (Waupun, WI)

Location: Operations - Waupun, WI


***Hiring for 2nd and 3rd Shift – Temperature Controlled Work Environment – No Rotating Shifts – No Mandatory OT***

 

Eagle Flexible Packaging is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician/Inspector to support manufacturing/operations in the areas of product quality and reliability. This role is responsible for maintaining Quality documentation and files and uses quality techniques to track, analyze and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure they meet company quality standards and customer specifications. Opportunity to work 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 2pm-10:30pm) or 3rd shift (Monday-Friday 10pm-6:30am). Specific pay rate based on relevant experience and qualifications.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform in-process inspection, measurement, and testing of finished product and raw material at all printing and converting stations.
  • Develop, maintain, and log first run samples and family colors.
  • Inspect, review, and document pouching/converting retain samples.
  • Maintain retain log and storage box inventory of print & pouching/converting retain samples.
  • Oversee rework: inspect and audit reworked or resorted material.
  • Maintain Quarantine hold log and Quarantine hold area.
  • Train others regarding procedures/work-instructions, inspection techniques, related laboratory testing, and GMP/Food Safety Program related elements.
  • Maintain and operate all inspection, measurement, and testing equipment, including but not limited to equipment inventory list, calibration and records, and operating procedures.
  • Perform and log all Green Bond testing.
  • Perform start-up and approvals as needed for all production equipment.
  • Effectively communicate all quality issues to Quality Assurance leadership or another member of the leadership team immediately upon discovery.
  • Maintain the organization of the Quality lab ensuring that it remains in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Document and communicate customer specifications, maintain database, and specification folders.
  • Participate in meetings, investigations, problem solving discussions, salvage review, and special project teams on an as-needed basis.
  • Audit rejected or customer returned product.
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed at all times. Escalate any issues/concerns to management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Quality critical and detail-oriented mindset – able to see the big picture and understand the importance of each step in the quality process.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with willingness to ask questions about processes and procedures.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, including ability to prioritize and troubleshoot in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated sense of personal accountability, including record of good attendance.

  • Proactive mindset with ability to take initiative.
  • Professional proficiency in verbal and written English, including ability to efficiently and professionally communicate with diverse individuals regarding issues and ability to properly document in-process and completed work.
  • Basic computer software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as ability to learn new programs.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent color perception and be able to see with or without corrective lenses.
  • Able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time and lift 50 pounds or more.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, and climb a ladder and stairs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
  • Relevant quality assurance experience, including experience with various testing methods such as destructive (functional), in-process (attribute & variable), and controlled.
  • Knowledge of Quality expectations, tolerances, and acceptable defect rates.
  • Experience in the flexible packaging and/or printing industries.
